Women’s History in Snohomish County

Two new stories have been posted on our Women’s Legacy Project page ~

One story on Pilchuck Julia by Betty Gaeng of the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society.

The other is of Luella Boyer, an African American businesswoman who lived in Everett.  We have little history on African Americans in Snohomish County and are pleased to present this excellent genealogical and biographical research on early County residents who led “normal” but never the less fascinating lives.  This story was written by Margaret Summitt, also of the Sno-Isle Genealogical Society.

Community Heritage Grant Program

Snohomish County’s Community Heritage Program is currently accepting applications from public and nonprofit agencies for projects that develop and promote heritage preservation in the county.  Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on April 4, 2011

By providing matching funds on a competitive basis, the Community Heritage Program supports projects that promote the public’s access to county history. Funding is available for professional development, public education, capital improvements or collections enhancement by application for Heritage Grant (pdf).
